It's been years since I've seen a live opossum, and never in my area. The last few years I've been seeing road killed ones closer and closer to home. While coon hunting I've never treed one, not that I'd mind all that much like some guys since there aren't all that many around. I figure it is a matter of time until I'll be looking up at one. Saturday morning I found the unmistakable tracks of a opossum right around the house...it pretty much went everywhere..the wood shed, the chicken coop...around the garbage cans, within probably 25 feet of the kennels lol. I never got woke up by barking hounds so I look at that as a good thing lol. Any trappers finding them in their sets? I would think they'd be getting into any baited leaning tree sets like fisher sets, and certainly any cage trap (I hear they're not shy about going in a cage).

I havent caught one here yet, but back home I was the possum trapping king...lol! Not sure why there is such a lack of them here...
For catching them, a dirt hole with some rank old bait will catch any possum within a mile.
