Some people might hide or keep what happened to me this evening a secret but as many of you know, I don’t put too much weight into what people think of me. I’m human, not perfect & get brain farts a lot more as I get older. So if someone can learn from my mistake, then the purpose of this post did its job
This evening I called in 5 gobblers that ended up running by me at 10 yards. I wasn’t sure what happened but once I stood up I knew right away. About 100 yards at my truck was a guy leaning into the bed of my truck. He started to leave so I yelled to see what was up & it turn out to be a F&G CO.
We chatted a little bit about how my opening day hunt went, my sweet rain gear and even my bow set up. As we were both getting ready to go our separate ways he asked to check my license which I didn’t have any issues with that, I buy all my tags that I need so I wasn’t scared. Well I wasn’t scared until I couldn’t find it Then as I started to think about what I could have done with & I got really scared! Hunting without my license NOT GOOD & I ma soooo screwed
Turns out after my second hunt this morning, I got dumped on by passing rain showers. When I got home I put my camos gear in the dryer & my license on the dryer. Then heading out for my evening hunt in a hurry, I went straight for the rain gear but never grabbed my hunting license
He called in my information & he knew I was legit. He gave me a huge huge break with a warning & told me about how I have to have my license on me when hunting. It’s not like out fishing where he’ll let you go to your truck & get your license if you forgot it there. Law states that you must tag immediately after killing your game. No license on me means that can’t be done. So I guess it was a good thing he scared off the gobblers before I could dirt nap one of them or I’d have been really screwed big time!
I’m now looking into if my hunting license can be tattooed to my rear so I don’t forget it again. Not sure if F&G would like checking it but that's not my problem ;D I told the wife I’d have to eat more each just so I can make room for next year license but at least I’d have it with me ;D
Be careful & always double check for your hunting license like you do your gear before heading out into the woods
