How about outlawing the use of game cams from Aug. 15th through Dec 15th? Also outlawing the use of treestands. This would cut down on a number of things.
1. No more landowners listening to hunting soap operas about this guy put this stand next to mine.
2. Hunters would no longer have an advantage of being above the timber.
3. Hunters would no longer be above the smell of a deer. (I understand they still smell you once they are on top of you, or if the stand is set in an ignorant manner.
4. Outlawing Game cams would no longer give the chance for a hunter to "scout" as many locations as he can afford cameras.
5. Hunters would no longer have that deflated feeling taken away by checking a cam, to find out a "booner" has walked by 3 times in daylight hours in the last 5 days.
Of course I'm being sarcastic with this, but interfering with someone elses manner or what someone else may be happy with is not right. Just like it would'nt be right for them to tell you that you couldn't hunt from a treestand or use a game cam.
How many pics have you seen in the last few years of a guy holding a dead buck, then showing the cam pic? I know I have seen a huge increase in this. So why should only one thing be restricted. Hunters should learn to police themselves. I've passed on several small bucks, and shot several small bucks.
How about cut the archery season back. Here is a season that just two decades ago had an annual kill of 350 deer. Now it's upwards of 2,800, with only a "bucks only" two week period set in place over that time. It would seem to me that the use of inline ML and today's bows have much more impact on our deer herd, than the fella that grabs grandpa's 30-30 and gets maybe a couple weekends to hunt is. So what if he shoots a spike. How about the guy that is going to 3 states, and is filling all his tags here? Obviously the guy likes to hunt, and is a better finacial place than the guy with the 30-30. So why should the guy without a pot to piss in get screwed? Although I understand he should get used to it, it seems to be just the way it works out.
