If it is an auto, stay away! There are MUCH better brands than Taurus out there if you want an auto.

I have not and will not own a Tore-ass. From everything I've heard, if you get a good one, you've got a good one. However, if you get a bad one that needs warranty work, you'll have to go rounds with Taurus to get it done. It seems to be a crap shoot on which one (good or bad) you get too.
I'd rather spend my money on an American made gun that I don't have to worry about whether it's going to function or not. Just my $.02 worth though.

I too am not a fan of the Taurus. If you want something in that price range (around 450 is average) I would go with either a Glock or a FN.
The glock is an awesome pistol. VERY VERY reliable and just as important very easy to shoot accurately. They carry nice are very easy to maintain. I had an 19 and wish I had not gotten rid of it.
If you are not a fan of the glock (some people are intimidated by the glock for not having a safety) than you will really like the FN. I have never shot a FNP 9mm but have shot the .45acp but the features are the same on both. They are ambidxtrious on the safety, the decocker and the mag release. The .45 shot very nicely. The sa/da allows you to carry locked and cocked if you wish.

Thats a crap shoot I will not take again. Learned my lesson on Taurus. Hell, even a Ruger (which are good guns) would be in my holster before a Taurus!! If the rugers were not so bulky.
F-N is a good choice too! I think your gonna have to pay though!!!

Maybe look at the Ruger pistols if you want to be in that price range. I had a P89 and a P90. Both fine pistols but hard for me to conceal.
