Looking at 243 Ruger for hunting varmits and deer. Any comments on caliber.

I've said it before with other people and on other forums, that the 243 would not be my first choice for a varmint caliber. But as for an varmint/deer gun, I feel you would be making the right choice Use a 70 to 85gr Nosler for the varmints and a 95 to 100gr for deer. I've read though, don't be looking for shots over 300 yards with the deer round, that's pushing it.

I love my 243,i prefer that over my 30-06,weight wize.I'm shooting Remington 100 Grain core-lokt psp and have it sighted in at 200 yards Because i like sitting on Powerlines,which MKM knows where they are.Never lost a deer with it,TC can count for that,i love that gun.Until it lets me down thats my weapon of choice.Can't wait to get it to bark again this year.Good luck everyone and be safe.
