Tried a little still hunting this morning during the breif snow fall and jumped 3 deer in the thick pines. The last 2 I jumped stopped on the edge of a clearcut. With the aid of binoculars I could see one was a nice buck. Since my 30-06 is out of commission with a bad scope, I was toting my trusty 30-30. Well 2 shots later at about 80 yards, the buck followed the doe down into the clearcut and out of sight! I looked for any signs of a hit for 2 hours but to no avail. My first real chance this fall and no deer! I would say he was a nice 6 or 8 point. Will be back in the morning.

Chances like that seem to be few and far between, at least for me this year. Haven't had a shot yet... Hope he shows up. Sounds like they're still tending, though. Get the '06 fixed or get closer! ;D

I know the feeling bud We wait & live for that moment to look up and see that buck we’ve been chasing all season long and we can't capitalize on it. It hurts…..real bad. I'm seeing a lot of turkeys. In fact, next time I go out I'll have my bow and my rifle with me. I'll just wait and see who or what wants to show up first
