So what everybody using in their thumpers? I'm not sure just yet with "Big Ben". I did buy a few different boxes of Remington and Federal loads that I was wanting to try this past fall but never got around to it. Called up Shotgun Sandy at the Nitro Company and learned the orders are backed up until late May into June Not too upset about it! I'll save a lot of $$ by not ordering them. I tell you what though, you can not beat the pattern that ammo spits out! It's jaw dropping. Here's a link to them if anyone hasn't seen it yet. Just remember, the loads with 7 shot are illegal here in NH. I use them but only in WV, NY and VT and maybe PA if I can find them in time from a dealer. I still pattern my gun with other loads for hunting here in NH. www.nitrocompany.com/

I am going to be using a little different recipe this this year. Instead of using the easton super slim 400's with Spitfire gobbler getters on the front I am going to switch to the Easton Axis 500's. About the same spine but lighter.
I am going to stick with the spitfire gobbler getters though ;D ;D ;D ;D

I have a minor dilema when it comes to what I'm going to use this year...On one hand I bought several years worth of the newer Hevi-13 3.5 2 1/4 oz #6's loads but I have a choke that is slightly under what is ideal. On the other hand I have a choke that shoots Winchester Supreme Elites 3.5 2oz #6's extremely well...I'd have to spend another $70 for a new choke or $30 for a couple boxes of Winchester XE...I may just buy several years worth of Winchester as well...then I just have to buy a new choke some time in the next few years.

Regnar, have you ever seen those guillotine broad heads? They look pretty sweet, but you don't have much room for error. I have been thinking about trying bow, but can't convince myself to drop the shotgun, maybe for my second bird this year.

Yes I have. They are not legal in NH. I do know someone who has used them elsewhere and he said they were hard to set up. Also completely ineffective past 20 yards.

Might want to check on that regnar. I thought Randy told me that they are now allowing them in NH. I don't care for the guillotine at all. I personally feel they are only for those that can't shoot and need a larger margin of error to make a shot. Just my opinion on it and hope I don't piss anyone off with it I see the topic of "which broad head for turkeys" a lot on forums and I keep posting the same thing. "I use the same broad head for turkeys that I use for deer. It's all about shot placement!" Now I am NOT suggesting anyone to try it nor have I ever tried it myself but if I only had a field point, I know I could kill a turkey if that's all I had.

I will have to check on that tom. As of last year it was illegal to use them. Have not seen the new regs. I know that they were looking at it but not sure about the results

I doubted that the guillotine would be that nice of a shooter due to its size, and knew it would be a hard thing to set up with the blades it has. Atleast the shows I have watched, the guys shot the turkeys in the neck with it which makes me think it would be harder to make the shot. If I do take the bow out I will use the muzzy's I use for deer.

I've had good luck with Hevi-Shot 3" 5s in my 870 and a Carlson choke. And I've killed birds with Remington's Duplex as well as their old 2 3/4" Magnum Turkey Load 4's. I need to do a bit of patterning to make a final decision. But the Hevi-Shot has never let me down.

NHTurkeyDude...would you happen to know the constriction of that particular choke? I picked up a box of them last season by mistake thinking I was buying another box of the extended range high density 3.5's #6's and have yet to shoot them but hoping they pattern similar.
