Hi guys just wanted to share my hunt with you from last night. I went out with Bill and Billy Martz (Wildlife Technolgies). We were out after coyotes in an area where we have located a couple of family groups at night. The area is alot of big woods and not many open areas. We ended up setting up in a grassy marsh that was wet in areas. The guys had the camera set up on my left side about 10 -15 feet from me and we had the caller out front and to the left of us. We expected action from our right. About 20 minutes of coyotes sounds along with a yummy dying rabbit for the menu I heard a noise over my right shoulder. Looking through the dense bushes I noticed something black moving around up on the bank about 50-60 yards from me.I finally realized that it was a bear and motioned to Billy that it was a bear. I can't explain the feelings I had or the sounds it made as it thundered through the brush and water to get to that sound of dinner. I can say it all added up to an enormous adrenaline rush. That bear cleared that 50-60 yards in no time at all. It got to 10-12 feet from me and stopped for a brief moment as it looked me in the eyes. He had a big head and small ears and I would guess he was about 250 + lbs. judging from bear I have shot over bait in the past. I have shot bear from a tree stand with a bow and can tell you there is NO comparison to what this felt like. I had my 22-250 with me with 40 grain bullets and just didn't want to chance wounding him as I like to kill what I shoot. Unfortunatly from the cameras vantage point there is not a good shot of him but you can see the top of his head in the video and see how close he got in relation to me and the excitement it created. In short it was one of the best times I had out there. I was going to take my bow with me last night but we were running late and I didn't think we would be able to get a close set up like that so I didnt bring it.....boy was I wrong!
