Went out coyote hunting this morning with my buddy. Felt great to be back in the woods, I missed them while I was in California. Anyways, we were set up on the edge of a huge swamp directly across from a den. We called for about a half an hour, mouse squeaking first then my rabit in distress for a little while. After no response and heavy snowfall, we walked across the swamp and started skirting the edge to go do some scouting. After skirting the edge for a while I looked down at the end of the swamp towards a beaver house and saw what I thought was a deer at first then a second later I realized it was a coyote. I told my buddy "COYOTE" I raised my .270 and pushed the safety off and calmly squeezed through the shot. My buddy had just got his scope on the dog and saw it drop in it's tracks through his scope as I shot. It was awesome! After that we took everything in and realized the shot was about 300 yards away! I made the shot of my lifetime with my rifle. We still can't believe the shot. I aimed for the top shoulder and hit her in the lungs/heart. I handload a 110 gr. V-Max bullet for coyotes and that bullet took care of everything in his chest cavity. It was unreal. Sorry for the bloody pictures but every ounce of his blood drained out of him on the ice. Anyways she was a little more than thirty pounds. Thanks for reading! -Chris
