My Duck huntin' buddy and I are looking at reloading bismuth. We figure we can get the cost down to slightly more that premium steel and get performance similar to lead. Thus shooting less shots per bird and extending our range at the same time. So my Question is, anyone here tried out bismuth? any sources for the shot? I have heard if you load it beyond 1200/1300 fps it will shatter but I want to hear any firsthand knowledge from anyone who has tried it. Thanks, FirePirate

I dont reload but a few guys from my gun club do. They tried bismuth but do not like it, in reloaded shells or factory shells. In their reloads they could not get it to pattern very well at anyrange beyond 35 yrds.
If I were going to reload a non toxic I would do a search and see if you can get some hevy shot to try.
Good luck
