I've got the Badlands 2200 backpack and looking to start to load it up. Does anyone have a good tang knife that they recommend?

I've had one for about 10 years and I love it! Only this is it doesn't''t have any special features to it. Some full tang knives have ways to to lash it to a branch/pole for spear or chopping axe.
I guess what I'm looking for it a good full tang survival knife.

I already had that knife on my list to choice from along with Gerber LMF II Knife and the Buck Redpoint. My pack will be outfitted with either the SOG or the Gerber and the Buck with be lashed on too for an extra quick grabber.

Never know when you'll run into other people like FLYLOW that are crazy enough to take it to the next level On a serious note, I plan on trying to get off the beaten path this fall with the gun a few times up north. I'm just trying to outfit my pack with a good all around knife and survival knife in case I ever need it. I'd hate to find myself in a situation where I need one and not having it because I thought it was an overkill Every year on the news we hear about people venturing into the woods and needing to be rescued. Mostly hikers but on occasion we hear about hunters as well. You won't be hearing my name on the news! Well maybe after the word spreads about how I wrestled and stabbed the NEW state record with my survival knife

Funny, We used to call these types of knives Crew Served knives!!! Newbies would always show up to battalion with a huge rambo knife. After the first road march they switched to a navy dive knife that a lot of us carried and a good swiss army knife!

I didn't realize these were considered to be Rambo knives Normally I only carry my "SC" (survival clippers) with me. Now don't laugh! I gutted plenty of deer and chopped a ton of camp firewood with these puppies I still carry them to this day but I'm having a little trouble attaching them to my backpack ;D

Not ragging on your picks tom, sorry if you thought I was.. I was just looking at some of the SOG knives and it made me think of the rambo knives. I like the gerber knife you mentioned. Although it is ever so slightly heavier I would go with it.

I like the looks of the Gerber but I'm thinking it's pretty big to be carrying on the pack strap. The Pup is half the weight and 1.5" shorter.
