My buddy has a nice black lab he says is gun shy and hes a duck hunter..i told him id be over this weekend with a roll of duct tape and some Walker Game Ears........

Read up on it. there is alot of good info on correcting the problem. If it is an older dog it will be very hard to do I am afraid.
If its a pub it should be relatively easy. You start out with loud noises in the other room while you are holding him. Then progress to loud noises (pots dropping or banging) without him being held. Then just keep getting the noises closer to him and and unexpected time. When I was done I could bang a pot together right next to my dog while she ate with out a flinch.
As she learned to hunt and associate the gunshot with a dead bird, when she heard anything that sounded similar to a gun shot you could see her go right into hunting mode.

I was joking about the tape and such but his dog is young i suggested he contact a good trainer and discuss it as the problem usually can be solved.

The best way is to keep the dog in the house and go buy a new pup. After 1-2 years it is almost impossible to cure them of being gun shy.
