oh ya, thae 4-wheeler was blastin through the snow!! I had it in 2 wheel drive alot on the flat stuff and for hill climbing it was in 4-wheel drive. The access trail that leads to some calling spot has alot of deep water in it, I made sure it was in 4wheel. It was fun crashin through the ice and mud!
I never really got very good with hand calls, I started coyote huntin and used mass. produced calls and then met THO. He made me some calls and I was practicing with them and then a short time later got the WT. I use the WT mostly. When I find an area that is hot and heavy and I kill a couple, I will go to the hand calls for the challenge.
A good hand caller will have good luck, but in my case I still need work with the hand calls.
We will be happy to have your buddy on board with us!
What is your coyote killin rig? I use the .204 and .223.
Keep us posted when you recieve your caller!

sorry, to answer your question about set ups. I have found that coyote vocalizations has brought them in for me. There seems to be a fine line between creating a territory response and over calling! I let out a howl, wait and then do another different howl, wait and on to a distress. If nothing shows I go back to howls but not to much, you don't want to scare the less dominant coyotes out. later on in jan. and feb. I will be using the mating howl.

Wow how about that Moon.
I think I'll go Howl at it!!! Yes, the the caller came in the mail yesterday. As I opend the box the end of the speaker with the coyote photo was the first thing I say boy, what a grin on my face.
Money well spent I thought as I had it all layed out on my reloading bench. Looking at the Encore in the gun vise I thought here we go. What a upgrade from Old Johnny. The speaker, that thing must be loud. Keep that thing pointed down range!!!
The list of sounds. What can I say WOW!
Anyone locate calling at night? If so, what sound are you using? I haven't seen to much posted on the subject. I'm going to learn the remote and hope to get at it.

Glad that you got your caller, as far as howling there is not much to it.
I go to a spot and shut the truck off so I can hear and I reach out and put the speaker on the top of my truck.
I let out a howl, most times a female and I wait to see if the respond. When they do, they go bananas. If they don't I try a couple more howls before moving on.
Sometimes they don't respond vocaly and just move to the sound source.

You have got to be kidding me!!!
What a CALLER. First morning with it in a hunting set-up. Was not really hunting as to more of checking my new gear. New pack and fanny-pack set. Gear all put in it's place.
If you haven't used a remote system like me, what a thing of beauty. Set the speaker get back let it go. No coyotes but it was good to learn the caller and the remote and the new packing system. Choosing sounds was wild. I had the list in my fanny-pack with the remote. Fast change of sounds. To just sit there all ready to shoot was that great. No movement just looking. Once I get my remote programed to my sounds and learn the numbers it will be even less moving.
The volume and lenght of play is a thing I'm playing with. Do you let it play full volume for a half hour. Or do as I did with my hand helds. Breaks in the calling. With 5-10 min. no sound. Any in-put? It will be fun learning.
Money well spent!!!!

No, play distress at medium volume, taylor it to the area, if it appears loud to you maybe click it down one. and play it constant. you can change sounds if you want but play them constant. if nothing shows then you can maybe go back to coyote sounds, again play them loud but taylor it to your area and then go back to constant distress.
When you think that your done with the stand, kill the sound and wait a couple of minutes before you move. I have had coyotes respond after I started packing up!

Had a nice hunt this morning with the WT caller. Made the first kill TOO!!!! Well, with a little help from a friend. Story in another post. With the WT caller speaker it can cut the wind as it did today. With its remote and all the sounds at your finger tips it makes life easy!!! Today at the setup I started out with Female lone howl and started soft and lit it up a little at a time. Then to pup distress full volume. To change the volume with this system is fast. A fox ran by so, change to fox distress change to rabbit distress back to pup distress. All this in a touch of a finger. Coyote comes in. Shot, his is screamimg, change to adult distress go to full volume. Man, what khaos. Two more come in and I can not believe what is happening. Let the caller go and it screams, the wind is blowing the fresh snow all over and the coyotes are still in site. I don't know if the caller being so loud that it held them. Shots were fired, coyote hit, and two come in like it was free lunch!!! I will put the sounds I used today in what is called my favorites on my remote and I think I will be even faster at changing sounds. Yes, this remote does that too!!! As for the remote, to be able to call from a distance is the greatest. I was able today to run the remote, shoot, reload my gun and that is a lot of movement, as I shoot a TC Encore and I know them coyotes didn't even know I was there. I was about 100 yds from the action behind a stump that I was using for cover.
As they say, I'm learning to talk to the animals and with the WT caller life is GOOD!!!

Hit the woods midmorning and tryed a new spot. Call and scout.
Set the caller up and settled in an hit the remote. I was in to it for about 10 min. I was being good with the volume soft and sweet.
Heard a crow in the distance and well, lets give the crow sounds a try. Hit crow baby distress. Here they come. They were all over. Can't help myself ;D hit FULL volume. Crows come through the trees right at the speaker I can not belive what is going on. On the ground , in the trees, in the sky, what noise, black things everywhere. I was about 50 yds away in full snow camo laughhing at the show. My first crow incounter with the WT caller.
On thing is for sure this caller makes me want to hunt more. More in the woods teaches me more. There is so much you can do with it.
I have my night permits. Can't wait to try that. Whole different world at night.

That thing DOES call crows like a champ. I had like 100 coming through the woods at me one day up in Pittsfield. It was weird. It makes crow season lotsa fun!
