Well I did it and went with Wildlife Technologies caller. Had alot of fun with Johnny and carried it many a mile. This new call is going to be something else. Looked at all of them for awhile. I'm going to like the transmitter, no more wire to run out. Bill was great to talk with. I think the DVD was all it took for me to see the light and I watched a few of them. When the guys ask me about coyote hunting I lend them the DVD and the next thing you know you have to take a friend hunting, which is a good thing! I have to take them out locating one night, that will fire them up. I see a few of you have this system. One Question, are any of you using the remote control output for decoys? If, so which decoy are you using. Maybe you don't need a decoy as you can be so far from the speaker because of the transmitter. Boy, I'm going to have lots of fun! Any tips on how to get the most out of this system I will welcome with open arms. Thanks.

Congrats on the new E-caller! you made a good choice! I also researched them for a while before buying one. I wasn't ready to spend that much $ but when I went to bill's house and he played it for me, I was amazed!
Bill has always been super nice to me and I always have alot of fun when I go visit him and his wife.
As far as the decoy output, I never gave it much thought! Bill will be able to tell you all about it.
Decoys, I have one of those wiggly furry things on a wooden dowel, I really don't think it helps "attract" critters but I do think that when you call something in, it helps keep the target focused on something other than the shooter/caller.
Tips, the DVD pretty much sums it up. I haven't had Super success this year in calling. Tho and I have been racking our brains as to why, we have used the WT with some success, a Minaska and hand calls with no success. We [glow=red,2,300]THINK[/glow] it is because of all the rain and the flooding during the spring. The pups could have gotten sick and died or drowned or something. Plus the lack of snow and cold temps. ain't helpin either.
I have had mostly good but sometimes no luck with locating at night! We pull into a spot, wait a minute and let out a howl. Sometimes they howl back in an instant sometimes nothing at all and others they respond silently and move into your position.
You are gonna be happy with the system! You should put it to good use and come with us to Maine in Jan. Lots of calling area and it should be a good group this year!!

Maine in Jan. My old stomping ground. Central Maine that is, was there 18 yrs. Cambridge was the town. That's were I started coyote hunting. Lot differant hunting there then is here. Cold winters and deer yards. Man, there was a big yard in a Cedar bog right across from my house. I baited alot there too. I liked to night hunt as well. I would set my meatsicle bait get into my subzero sleeping bag up to my chest in my tree stand and call and wait them out. The bait is in a bucket put in the snow with just the top level with the snow. It was blood red and when the crows found it they would peck the heck out of it making a blood red mess. When it would snow and cover the bait I would find the fox and coyotes would tunnel to it. What fun to see a fox run across the field full out and hit that hole. I caught this male one day doing this and I waited for him to pop-up to get a look around. Pow all she wrote.
Maine? What part are you heading for. Also, the date and how long. In Kingsbury there are miles of paper mill roads. Lots of ceader bogs and river bottoms. Walk many a mile on stream beds killed and shot at good many coyotes there too. Was a great way to find sign as the coyotes used these bottoms to travel in. But, we had cold weather and that is what we need here. I find my self learning how to hunt them all over again. Thats not a bad thing!

The Maine hunt is in Rangely, and its Jan, 25,26,27,28 it is a thursday- sunday deal.
lots of old paper Mill grounds to hunt on. I guess they have had alot of coyote and cat sightings during Deer season.
There is a guy who runs it, he owns a big camp with lots of cabins where people are staying. I am staying at the white wolf inn down the street.
there is a banquet on sat. night at the white wolf. and then they all hit the "bar" one night also. This is my first year going but other members from here went last year. They had a blast! Not to many coyotes were shot but still fun I guess.
Night hunting is allowed, I am hoping to see a cat and possibly shoot one also. There will be bait piles as well.
Since you lives there, maybe you can give me some tips. How to dress for the cold up there, what types of terrian will I be in, are the coyotes "spooky" as like here?
I plan on bringing an AR-15 and a .204 bolt gun.
If you want more info on the hunt, I will get it for you..

Sounds like a Moosehead Lake ice fishing trip, not much fish but lots of fun! Little short notice for me but, maybe next time. Rangely has clear cuts and hills or mountains are they mountains. Have you heard if there are any deer yards there? I once thought Maine listed the bigger ones. Deer yards, coyotes are attracted to them. With this weather who knows. You might fine your self HEATER HUNTING looking for tracks and other sign and places to Howl and see if you get a call back. Central Maine had good farm country and with that fields and farmers cacass yard. Were he dumps dead calf and such.
Lairs of suff. I go to army stores and get there cold weather gear most wool. I did find Air Force long underwear. That is the best stuff. Light weight and warm. Hoods and a headband as I walk alot, so I need to cool down so I don't SWEAT. The number one killer. Take off, put on.
Spooky Jan- Feb Just hungry. When I did hunt up north I did notice if they were there they came in fast. It was like first come first serve. Time of day was not a factor. If it is a cold night I would call all next day in those bogs. I called a big female 12:30 in the afternoon came right out into the open. Pup distrass. 6.5x55 Swed. I now shoot a TC Encore, Mike Bellum tricked out and a MGM 20" Fluted .223 Ackley Improved barrel. Composite stock and forend. I use Hornady V-Max 40 Grn bullets. Sweet gun carry it all day!
Take some of those great pictures that you do. So, us stuck home bodys care share in your fun!

I will be sure to take the camera with me, I was pacing around today with the baby and was thinkin to myself " man I wish I had a digital camcorder!" that would be cool to take some film of the hunts! Christmas buying was hard on me and I lost all kinds of money because I was home from work sick and was sposed to work christmas, thats 2 days of double time and a half I lost oh well, maybe with the tax returns. I have beagel wear pants and thermals I always wear when hunting. I think IF it is gonna be cold up there then I will buy those silky thermals and then put regular thermals and then my hunting cloths. I probably won't be able to move but I will be warm Last year I guess it was in the 50's all weekend!!! I hope I at least get 1 coyote!

Its funny as we chat I find myself looking back at how much I depended on the snow to tell me a story. The sign in the snow showed me more than any book. As new snow came a differant chapter was born. I think that this is way I bought the new caller in hopes to find a new way to learn. I hope I don't depend to much on it. Like you say us it as a tool. I will use it with my gps to plot night locator areas and try making a map system with my computer and learn the coyote of NH. Boy, HI-Teck hunter. Sitting in front of a screen instead of in some snow covered cedar bog.

Yup, that is my next purchase a GPS.
I have one but someone on here was telling about the rino 530.
It has 2 way radio, text message, full color screen and all those funky gadgets. but the cheapest I can find it is $360.
The snow, as you know will help alot. It will tell us what direction and from where and to where the coyotes are going BUT it also adds frustration too.
I was dropping bait in an area last winter. The very first time I dropped it, I went back the next morning and it looked like a grenade went off. The bait was gone, the snow was removed to bare earth, there was urine everywhere and all the underbrush was trampled. The snow was packed down with coyote tracks! I thought GREAT I have some coyotes here! I have called that area and everything around it since, every time of day, every weather condition and every sound since with NO LUCK! I continue to drop bait there and it continues to get taken and I also have gotten vocal responses there at night but have only seen a Fisher cat and some Deer.
But I do think that snow makes the action better, less food sources for them!!

That is the same kind of bait site I was getting when I used dead calf as bait. Looked like a bomb went off. Just would not hold them. I went to 5gal metal pail with mix of beef kidney and liver. They come packed in blood and I would mix with water fill to the rim and freeze. Anchor in the snow. Drill hole throught pail run small chain and stake to the ground. Claw marks tonguegroves chewed bucket made them work for it. My best time to poke one was night and if it was real cold just at dusk. Fox would hit it in the day light. I didn't think I would get a fox at a coyote bait but, I guess when the belly growls you do what you have to do. I also scent make a hemlock or white pine with a mix I make in the summer out of beef liver. I pour this on the rough bark and this will help hold the mix. GPS Boy you can spend some money. I have a Lowrance and now looking at a mapping program for it and my computer. Looked at a few and looks like 100.00, plus you have to buy a cable 35.00 Heading out in the morning. Hope to get in the woods as this storm front comes in. Heading to Jones Brook WMA in Brookfield. Scouted there last week. Looks like might turn into something. Jones pond was the in 1998 as you can see in this aerial photo terraserver-usa.com/image.aspx?T=1&S=12&Z=19&X=412&Y=6024&W=1&qs=%7cmiddleton%7cnh%7cBut, now there is no water in the pond. The dam gave way and made this big flat spot. With a stream running throught it. Cool looking place. Taking a friend, as this will be his first coyote hunt. Maybe the gods will be with us. No new call yet, so will have to handheld call them. Boy, the wait is a killer. Highwaystar

Waiting!!!! Forever, No, ordered just a few days ago. Was the same day I made my first post here at the Forum Dec. 27. When you go to Bill's house break just one hand need the other to ship my caller!!!! LOL.
If you go to Wal-mart super store in the meat dept. you will find beef kidney and liver in plastic pack, lots of the red stuff too! A couple packs each and there you go. I dump the blood and chop up the meat parts cube size. The metal pails I would get from the painters on the job site.

Is that snow outside!!!!
When I was looking for info on Wildlife Technologies caller I found a form with your input on the caller and at end of your post you put your web page address on the bottom. It was Huntingnet .com.
Was thinking of my caller today as I was on stand just getting ready to call. I was thinking of how to set the call, then set myself and my hunting friend and how nice it will be to use that remote, as I hide in the brush. As I was calling today I felt so exposed when that call broke the morning dawn. It was as eyes were all on me. Never was that way before. Its that damn remote!!! My head was in the clouds all morning thinking how to use it to my advantage. We didn't score today but my friend did have a good time and It was great to show him how to use the handheld and watch him call for the first time in that drained out pond. His face had a wide grin, priceless!! As we got in our trucks he came over and with a smile said Thanks I'm hooked Cabellas is on my hit list today. Man, what will he do when he sees the new caller.

OH. hunting net, I barely ever go there.
I think you buddy is gonna poop his pants when He hears it!!
As far as your caller, I never have mine more than 25 yards from me, the thick woods don't allow for me to put it 100 yards and see well enough to shoot.
Every coyote or fox or fisher that I have called so far has gone directly to the sound source, I have never seen them wind me. Now I am not saying that the don't, I am just saying that when I saw them they are looking at the caller, head on.
Here is a trick for those areas that you know where the are denned up and know where the are gonna come from. Look in the direction that they are to respond from, since you are not the sound source, and they are gonna go to the sound source, put the caller behind you so that way they have to get past you to get to the dieing rabbit. It's a sort of an ambush I guess.
If you like hand calls and still plan on using them, I strongly recommend that you give THO game calls a look. He is right here in manchester and builds the finest calls you can put your hands on. I think I still have some photos posted of mine here. He is very knowledgeable about coyotes and has dragged my butt all over southern NH.
I took out the 4-wheeler today to drive around near one of my spots to look for fresh sign, all I saw was rabbit tracks.

Was that wheeler going throught the snow!!!
My buddy is emailing me so I can send him the address to this forum and yes I say the photos of the callers. I'll point him in that direction. They are nice looking calls.
It's a sort of an ambush! My head is spinning. Like a kid with a new toy. Its funny how doors open up and your mind thinks of new ways to hunt with a tool like this caller. I think of the coyotes I missed because as I was calling they came in and caught me off guard with the call in my hand not my gun.
Do you think you are more confident when you use the Wildlife Technologies caller, as to handheld callers? Which set up has brought you the most coyotes? Will the Wildlife Technologies caller replace my handhelds? We will have to see. Have you hung yours up? I have a few tree stand set ups, there is were I might use them. Funny, as I just wrote that I'm thinking Wildlife Technologies caller!!!!!
