Well, it is ground hog time here. We just finished first cutting so the fields are low and the ground hogs had there young so hopefully the population will stay strong for future years. My dad has gone out once while I was fishing the bass opener and shot 2 ground hogs and a brown leaf . Now I have to make sure my .17 is sighted in and start getting out there. Hopefully my dads .223 WSSM will come in next week. He sent it out with a medium fluted barrel and a McSwirl(I think that is the name) stock. Now it has been bedded and put together for those 800 yard shots over the valleys. Who else is shooting ground hogs? I love it.

The meadow behind my place hasn't been mowed. I shot 5 there last year. It sure would be neat to take a long shot like you guys do. I have never shot that far before. Shoot a bunch of 'em.

I havn't been out yet, but have been keeping an eye out for them. I need to dust off the old rifles and put them to work.

Yesterday I missed a wood chuck. Came back and checked my sights and it was shooting an inch high at 100 yards and the shot was at 60 and all I was able to see was the head.

I just got back from PA and was hunting them for one day. The weather was working against me and the fields still need cutting but I did get the chance to pull the trigger on one at about 120 yards ;D I too just had a head shot and we thought I put it just over his head as well. I'd like to think I gave him something like a bullet scare to remember me by ;D I did get to thump two rabbits in my Dads garden and missed one. Now that one! we defiantly saw my shot and it went left of his head around 60 yards from the barn corner. I other two little rabbits around 40 yards and I shot them free hand. All together we saw a bout 10 or 12 whistle pigs but could only get off the one shoot Next time should be better! I hope

Well some of our fields are completely under atwer now about half of our corn crop should be destroyed so I don't think we will be seeing groundhogs in them for a while, but the ones we focuse on should already have dried up. Maybe my dad will take me out today since he sighted in his 25-.284. That gun blows body parts off. Then it also gets all the people in the area mad because the bang spooks them and then their dogs go off.

it would be fun to shoot them but the only ones that I know of, hang out on the lawn in front of the Police station. Although I think that would be an adventure, I am sure the cops will think differently!

Me and my dad each got one today! I missed another, I had forgot to calculate the wind and had to shoot through some grass.
