I'm going to be heading up for my annual trek through the great north woods trying to put a dent in the grouse population and I was thinking of dragging my .204 along for a little coyote action. Can any of you fine gentleman(and ladies?) give me any info/incite on hunting coyotes up there would be very helpful. I'm also going to pick up a tag and have my Ruger SRH .454 handy just in case one of those nice north country bears decides to check out the prey in distress goings on. Thanks for the help.

Never hunted coyotes that far north but, I imagine it is like hunting them were you are. Stand and set-ups are key if you don't have time to locate at night. Good luck and I look forward to seeing pics of grouse and maybe a coyote or two.

B204, I've never called one in yet, I'm still in the early learning stages of the coyote hunting thing. I'm waiting to hear back from the place we are staying, they guide for birds in the fall and fly fishing in the spring/summer and hopefully can give me some tips as to where to set up and what the population is like, etc. If the offer still stands I'd like to get together sometime in the near future to see if we can put the hurt on a coyote or two and I can pick your brain. And since I'm an "expert" (yea right), ;D with a 17 month old daughter and I see you are a new father, I can return the advice favor.

The offer always is good!!! I can only give you advice that has been given to me by a couple of long time coyote guys and trial and error in the woods. I and most people learn something most times we are out. If nothing else, we will have fun. Just let me know and we will get together.
