I recieved some .54 cal. (.530) roundballs from a friend who had leftovers.
I have a .56 cal. (.550). Do you think I'd loose much accuracy if i thickened the patch to .020 and used the .54 cal roundballs?

I don't think you can get very goog accuracy with a patched ball that much smaller than bore size. Bill

The common sense answer is that it should not be very accurate. It would seem that you would have a bouncing effect as the projectile travels down the barrel. However, I have seen some weird things happen. You might want to try it and see how it works.

Tried the .54 cal. rounds. At 100 yrds. 5 shots got a 3" group. Not bad. I'm going to try it at 150 tomorrow and see what it does at that range.

Some times you don't know unless you try.
If you need a hand at the range, let me know.

Well went out today and tried the 56 at 150 yds. Got about the same results. It's turning out better than i expected. I suppose as long as the ball compresses it should stay true.
