Me, my dad and my little brother are all putting in this year. My father has been putting in since it started but no luck yet. His buddy got picked in 96 for unit m and my dad told him right where to go opening day.
Opening day came and he wasnt there. A cow with a calf and a big bull was right there. So he waited the 3 years and then put in for 2000. PICKED AGAIN! This time for unit g and choose my dad for subpermitee. My father ended up shooting the moose with his 30/06 at 60 yards.
First shot when right through the lungs and the moose turned right for him. Rechambered another round and shot between the shoulders. Moose still coming. Rechambers another round. CLICK! misfire. Down to one shot, about to squeeze and the hind end goes down, then the front goes down. It dropped at just over 20 yards.
It tipped the scales to 630lbs but big rack to it. Made low record book. Fish and Game estimated it to be 12 years old but damn was the meat was so good!! I'll try to get a pic of the rack in the next few days.
They got it out with 1 inch thick nylon rope attached to the back legs so the antlers wouldnt dig into the ground. then when they got it to the road, used an atv ramp supported by 4 2x4's with a 2ton come-along into the back of my dad's Silverado.

My family had pretty good luck some years back. In a four year stretch my Dad drew and I hunted with him. The next year I drew and took my uncle with me. Then a dry year and the 4th year my son drew and took my uncle with him because I had hunt twice alread and had gotten a moose both times. My son and uncle didn't get one only because my uncle had a missfire on one moose and pass on another because they were unsure of what was beyond the moose and were a missed shot or one that penatrated the moose might go. I drew as an alternate this year. Number 744. That means I was number 69 on the list of alternates. The last word I got I was number 14. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Last Sunday my nieghbor followed a huge Bull Moose down our road and it turned into our driveway. She stopped her car and watched the the Moose go right through our breezeway between the house and garage. Then he went around the garage and looped back around to go back up the road in the direction he came from. She told me this happened about 8 AM. It was a good thing nobody was coming out the breezeway door at that time .That would have been one hell of a suprise. Moose use this road often because it follows along Corbin Park.

Just got back from moose hunting. A good friend of mines grandson drew a permit in zone 4, in Maine. I had to come back early due to work, but I did see the largest bull I have ever seen. It was Monday morning, and as they went down one road we went down another and he was a 100 yards ahead broadside on the road. By the time they got to us he had gone into the woods and disappeared, but I did get some picks. I will try my luck at posting them.

Icefishnh,
Did you get a tag? What part of B were you in? I was up there this weekend bird hunting with my boys over by Stratford Bog.
