My gun club is running monthly Pins and Clay shoots. I'm looking to pickup a 22 pistol so that I can participate in the shoots. Any input on what I should get and or stay away from is appreciated. I'm looking to keep the money down below $300.00 and still get a good all around gun that I can plink with and just have some fun with as well. I would prefer to get a semi auto, but that's not required. I looked a few the other day but I think I have just as many questions as I did before I started looking.

I don't think you could go wrong with getting a Ruger Mark II or Mark III. Those guns a very accurate I've been on the look out for a used one for a while but haven't seen many in my price range.

dano, I am not sure if you are looking for something comp"d out or a regular pistol but I own a Walther p22. you can get 2 different barrel lengths and it comes with 3 different sized back straps for different sized hands, 2 or 3 front sights 2 clips one with the finger extension. I have had it since the first came out and like it alot. I have found that mine is a little picky about what rounds it likes but I think I am shooting federals value box and it likes it and never jams. I think I payed $225 or 250 for it brand new. all the reviews on it are great!! Good luck

Browning I think what I'm looking for is something close to a regular pistol but one that I can add on to in order to make it a better competition shooter.

In my opinion you can't go wrong with any of the rugers. I've been searching for a used one myself. They are hard to find used, which says a lot.

I own a High Standard Supermatic that is about 60 years old, great gun, really accurate. if you can find a used High Standard for a decent price definately jump on that! you will not be disapointed.
