Over my years of hunting I've come across a few weird racked bucks myself while in the stand and I've seen a few at checking stations. At the checking stations I've never had my camera so I need your help. Lets see some "weird racks" that you've taken or have caught on film. Here's the one's I've taken and nicknamed "The Alien Buck" (four pointer) "The 3 Beam Mess" (16 pointer) "Tight Flat 11" (11 pointer)

I shoot normal deer with normal racks. ;D I did pass on a weird racked buck one year I wish I wouldn't have. It's one antler looked more like a fungus growing and it was growing down the lenght of it's nose. Here's a couple deer skulls I found while shedhunting.I shot one that looks like the skull on the left.Mine was a spike and the one antler was growing straight bach behind it's ear. hey,is that last buck that last minute stand, where if you saw deer they would come though early and that year you were the first at the check station. ;D

Thought I'd revive an old thread. Weird racks exist in Indiana too.... Just one of the odd-racked/one-antlered bucks my father has taken over the years. He's shot enough of the odd ones that it's become a running joke in the family. ;D This is the only one I have pictures of though. Shot 11/15/08, second pic is that morning's take. My buddy took a really odd-racked buck around '97 or '98 that I'm still looking for the picture of. When I find it I'll post it.

I forgot to mention that I started calling Dad's buck above a "genetic brainfart". The term stuck. ;D It took some digging, but I finally found the pics of my buddy's buck I mentioned above. As I recall, his buck was shot within 3 miles as the crow flies from where Dad's buck (and all the others) was shot. Here's the pic's of Adam's buck:

That drop on the right (deers left) looks like on of those back scratchers or a little hand ;D Very cool and thanks for sharing

Hadn't seen this thread before... I got a couple to share. My 2008 PA six pointer. Almost looked like a reindeer rack close up. and a buck a friend shot near his home in Indiana in 2009. He said the deer was very healthy other than these crazy antlers. He actually shot it thinking it was a doe. They even let him check it in as such, since the antlers were so small.

Craig, I shot one a few years back that had smaller horns than that last pic of yours. Same story, I thought it was a doe. Regs in IN are if a deer has at least one antler 3" long then it's a buck, otherwise it can be tagged as "antlerless" regardless of sex. This was a 1 1/2 year-old buck. He'd been doing some rubbing:

danf... that's crazy how similar those look. funny looking. MKM... I usually hunt the Clearfield/Dubois area. But, that crazy 6 point was taken in 2008 in Ridgway. It was my first and probably last rifle hunt in PA. I could not believe how many yahoos were in the woods then. I'll stick to bowhunting PA. I shot the first legal buck I saw thats how much I wanted to be done with PA rifle hunting. A full three hours into the rifle opener! It wasn't even light yet when I knew I was gonna hate it. People EVERYWHERE and they walked right by and/or stood right by me (up in a treestand) even after I made sure they knew I was there. No thanks. Not for me. Last October I tried a new spot with Ryan (Salmon Stalker or Big Blue depending on the boards you read). We went to Philipsburg area for opening week of bow season. Saw a lot of does and spikes. Only a couple legal bucks. I never had a shot opportunity on a legal buck and had no doe permit. Found out after getting there that the gypsy moths had destroyed the acorn crops the past few years and the deer quality had suffered severely there. They were in the midst of logging off hundreds/thousands of acres to get rid of the moth damage and nests. Next time I go back I'll be in Clearfield county again. The bucks I was seeing there were great. Saw some 12 points at night that made my jaw drop! Of course I couldn't find them during the day. I let a lot of legal bucks walk in hopes of getting a shot at some of the big boys they have there now. Quite the huge difference between now and when I first started going to PA. It used to be a 140 lb 6 point was a great deer... now they're not even legal til 6 point. Saw a lot of 8s and 10s and even some 200+ lb deer. Wasn't fortunate enough to get them in bow range though. But still a ton of fun just to see them.

New to the forum and this would be my first post so I thought this would be a good place to start. Shot this buck yesterday, a 192 lbs/11 pointer with a very strange rack. His right side main beam was damaged during velvet and looks like it was broken off a "glued" on. Not a very good glue job if you ask me... ;DLOL Still debating whether to do a full shoulder mount or just a skull mount. Mushky
