Well Coalman, you where right! I finally found some time to put up my first ever otter I caught this year. Probably one of the biggest I will ever catch- the stretcher is a large size. Anyhow, it took me an hour and a half to flesh this thing! That tail is one of God's works of art I tell ya! I felt like a newbie all over again. Which is one reason I love to trap - there is always some to learn and be completely humbled by. Any critiques of my put-up are appreciated. This one goes to the tannery tomorrow!

Is there anything better than having fur hanging in the house?!??! Makes every time I walk into the house through the basement a pleasure

Thx. Do you use a beaver knife on the tail? I ended up filleting it with a skinning knife and some brute force fleshing. There has to be a better way than the way I did it.

On coyotes, I cut the lower lip off and leave the top one as is. If you ever get one and need help putting it up, just let me know and I'll help you out. After you skin, flesh and dry it, you can get a coyote tanned for around 20 bucks.
