Tonight I slipped out to give a stand a try and man was it exciting. The action started when I wasn’t even ready! Got my decoys set up and loaded the 12ga with 3 shells. I turned on the caller while cleared out a spot around a tree and boy was that a mistake. The crows were all over me before I knew and I was throwing lead and scrabbling for shells. My first shot drop one dead cold in flight so I swung for another. I winged the second one with two shots but now I’m out of ammo with 6 or 8 crows circling all over me. Grabbed a handful of shells from the backpack and went back to throwing lead. I hit another one that I thought for sure should have dropped but it didn’t either After that fury I still had several crows coming in a little too high but it sure the hell didn’t stop me from shooting. I ended up packing the decoys up and getting my field photo where I had the decoy set. On my way back to the truck I stayed close to the bog strip looking for the last one I winged. About 30 yards from the road there he was lying at the base of a tree dead The second crow I didn’t even look for because the bog is just way too wet and thick. Now I’m not even thinking of counting him but I’m 100% positive he’s there just by the way the crows after the fury were circling where I last saw him flying off to. Funny quick hunt for sure

Thats awesome Tom! What calls are you using to get them going? I find crow gathering works ok, but crow fight really cranks em up...havent had too much luck with hawk/crow or struggling crow. HANK

I only had the crow fight, dying crow, struggling crow, crow+owl fight and ugly crow before this evening. I just finished loading up 7 new crow sounds 10 minutes ago Tonight they came in hot and heavy to the crow fight. I pulled a few back in to the struggling crow after all the shooting but it didn't hold them long. I played back-n-forth with the fighting crow and struggling crow but only pulled in a few high flyers. I waited a good 10 or 15 minutes and hit the crow+owl fight and that one to my surprise brought in 5 crows across the field hard!Knucklehead me switched to crow fight half way in and 4 of them turn off. The one that didn’t went high on me as the other turned but it didn’t stop me from rack'in the shells ;D Lesson 1. Don't start the call until your 100% ready! Lesson 2. If they are coming in....DO NOT DO ANY BUT GET YOUR GUN READY!!!

Sounds like you had a great hunt! One question though, you said, "Now I’m not even thinking of counting him but I’m 100% positive he’s there just by the way the crows after the fury were circling where I last saw him flying off to. " Why not count him? He's dead and you made him that way. It's not like it's going against your limit. lol

Thanks guys...it was a good one for sure You know it NG! I'm not new to crow hunting at all but the fire to get back out there is burning strong maxus, I didn't actually see it fall or hit the ground so without that, I've got to pass on counting him Now if I saw him diving head first 20 feet from the ground or heard him thump, I'd count it in heartbeat
