1 of my best tricks I use is to watch around fields n water...find a big tall dead tree or snag..crows will land and sit on the same one over and over and over...set yourself up under it where you can get a clear shot with a rimfire is safe...or shotgun with full/turkey choke...either just wait for one to land or call then go quiet quick...theyll come in looking and land on the tree to look around..bang!..this works really good with a e-caller..if you can get a decoy up in the tree..even better...for you guys who go to turtle pond...as your facing the boat ramp..look way left and up and youll see a tree exactly like im describing..always has crows sitting in it..if you keep an eye out eventually youll have a whole bunch of trees like this in your game book.

Tom and I went out last night for a couple hours and when we got there the birds were cawwing all over but then a squall came thru and it seems the birds shut down!!! Maybe it was getting close to roost time.
Maybe I can talk Tom in to giving it another go this weekend in one of my spots?

I voted 6 but am using up some 5 shot right now. Now if I shoot one and it knocks him up higher into the sky, I'm changing my opinion ;D

Well I finally did it! After 2 more hunts that both ended with 2 birds as worm food, I got out today and got 8. I should have had WAY more, but poor shooting and forgetting to put in my full choke made sure that many more survived the day's hunt. I am bummed that the season is over so soon.

Nice shooting!! I know, the season is way too short. I am starting to get neighboring state small-game permits to extend all seasons. Crow season in MA is way better - guess they have a lot more crows in Mass.

Well done maxus That area your in is awesome for bust'in crows. I was fall gobbler hunting over that way a few years ago & the amount of crows in the valley was incredible If I ever head back over that way, I let you know. Again, nice shooting

Bushman, that is a great idea! after looking into Vermont's season, I just bought a Vermont small game license online. Whoo hoo! another month of crow season for me!

Went out today to try out my new Foxpro on some predators...thing is awesome! Had 3 hawks come in and put it on "crow fight" and had a dozen crows in a frenzy in 5 minutes! Too bad the season is over...had plenty of coyote bait overhead! HANK
