Well just got back from the opening weekend. Three hunters in camp, two bulls down and one wounded. We tracked for 5 hours yesterday for 1.5 miles on the GPS. We think the wound was in the rear quarter and that the moose is going to make it. They were back out this morning and think that they jumped the same one, small 6 point bull.
My youngest was with me so he got to see two moose recoveries as well as go on his first track. He did a great job!! In the down time he got to spend some time on the range and put together a nice 4" group at 100 yards. He is read for deer season!!!
I will post a few photos later.

Thanks.
Just got a call from my buddy. He and his son got a HUGE cow this afternoon. No weight yet as the station was closed by the time they got there but they said it was a lot bigger than the bull that was shot.

Except for the picture of Michael he took all the pics. Something happened to my camera and the pictures did not show up on the sd card. First bull coming in on the special moose trailer. This trailer has hauled MANY MANY Moose out of the woods over the past 15 years. Michael getting his first up close look at a set of moose antlers Hanging on the game poll. The pole is 12' high and there was enough weight on the legs that when we skinned it that it took two of us to get the legs off the ground. Moose was packed on to the truck to go get tagged. Michael wanted to take a picture of the moose's nose. He could not get over the size of it! Michale excited after helping skin it out The the second bull hanging on sunday This is what a normal dog looks like after way to many beers!!!

Hi Regnar, That's a good rugged looking game pole. How do you guys hoist your moose up? Winch? Come-a-long? My youngest boy got lucky in last year's Maine moose lottery. We used the "lazy" method to get his critter hanging in the barn (electric chain fall). Trouble was, they're cussed lengthy creatures when they're all streched out. We ended up jamming the chain at the top and having to climb up to the joists to come-a-long him loose. A valuable learning experience! Quartering him up (hanging off the Bobcat bucket) Still not high enuf!!!!! Grrrrrr.

We used a block and tackle tied to the truck.
