Took a buddy out yesterday for upland birds and put 20 miles on the LaCrosses...Tama has lost his drive and desire and seeing as he will be 9 in a few weeks retirement is imminent. We hit the Salisbury site and got there before the stocking truck came, put up a couple of big woodcock but whiffed, fun though. Tama would work thru a piece and 3-5 minutes later a barrage of shooting would happen behind us...frustrating to say the least and damn near embarrassing. We got one rooster we shoooed of the road and Tama went nuts after he got him up and Lee dropped it, then the switch turned off. Gave him a good 2 hour break and hit the site up in Hill...friggin massive and a buttload of birds, just not in front of our guns. Tama was more interested in dog scent than birds, and the same thing happened, we would work a piece and he would get birdy here and there but wouldnt stay on the scent. After we worked a piece 3-5 minutes later the shots would fly right where we just were...AAARRRGGGHHH!!! Tama it seems has pulled a "Bruschi", gave it a good try but it seems to be coming to an end...will finish out the season and try to convince my wife into a Llewellyn Setter as opposed to a Lab. Will be tough but from what I saw yesterday pointers outperformed flushers 3-1. Tama will be filling out his pension papers come Jan. 1st. Hearts a little heavy today. HANK

I saw a F&G truck coming down from exit-16 on 93 today with a bunch of wooden crates in the back...perhaps a covert pheasant stocking under cover of the inclement weather ?
