Hi guys. Some of you know me from other boards... aliases are Slipknot and Jobsite... but my real name is Craig Butler.
While doing a "google" search for Tooky River Calls yesterday, I found this site. I've had a chance to look through some of the posts already. Some really good info on here. Also some beautiful looking turkey calls in the pictures.
Really looking forward to participating here. Wish I had found this site a long time ago. From what I've seen in the posts so far, you guys "keep it real", unlike some other sites I've seen. What a breath of fresh air that is.
A bit about myself... I am a long time hunter/angler. Grew up with a grandfather who was a bear guide. (He was basically my dad, as I grew up living with him and my gram.) So, bear hunting was my first love. Been doing that since I was about 10 years old. Started hunting deer about the same time. However, I probably had four or five bear under my belt, before downing my first deer. I guess I kinda went about that a little backwards.
I fish for just about any cold water species, mostly locally, but also in Lake Champlain and Lake Ontario. But, the fishing that really gets my heart pumping is tossing top water lures at night for stripers! What a rush hearing those big cows engulf a surface swimmer.
This year I'm trying a new sport. Turkey hunting. Been wanting to get into it for at least ten years and something always seems to get in the way. Not this year. I'm ready to go. License in hand, equipment at the ready and soaking up any useful info I can find to try to help make my first season really memorable.
May cannot come soon enough. I'm so antsy. My wife is about sick of hearing turkey talk. She says I'm obsessed.
Happy to have found this forum...
Best of luck in your endeavors...
Craig
