Just joined. Didn't really need yet another forum to keep up on, but I like the fact that this one is NH-based. Andy Kaiser (Kaiser Calls) referred me here from an IN-based forum. I moved up here from Indiana back in August. It hasn't been easy moving from an area that I had lived in all my life; especially the deer woods where I knew every nook and cranny, hill and holler. I decided after deer season up here that I certainly didn't move up here for the deer hunting! Based on what I've seen so far, I'm really looking forward to turkey season though. I'm still finding my way around this geographical area, and I'm constantly referring to maps to find out where certain towns are in relation to me. I've hunted for probably the last 18-19 years, mostly deer. I turkey hunted off-and-on for close to 10 years before tagging my first tom 4 years ago and I've been a bit more serious about it since then. In the last few years I've also developed an interest in the handcannons (Contenders mostly), which has led to handloading. Anyway, glad to be here!

Welcome to the forum danf Andy is a first class guy all the way and I'm glad he told you about us. The hunting around is a lot different from what you (and I) are use to. We moved up here from MD 12 years ago this spring and I'm still not use to it The days of sitting on stand watching 15, 20 or 30 deer feeding out into a nice soy bean or clover field an hour or two well before dark is over However, you are in an area that the turkey hunting is coming on strong so that's a plus. I know this might be kinda early for ya but you should try and make it down for our cook out on the ice next Saturday in Concord. A great way to meet us and know who you're posting to on the forum. Don't worry about bringing anything but yourself and a few hunting stories. As for the hills and hollers, for us that grew up with them and know them well, their embedded in our hearts & hunting heritage so we can take them where ever we want to take them I find a lot of them in my VT turkey hunting

you should try and make it down for our cook out on the ice next Saturday in Concord. I've got very tentative plans to head to FRO on Saturday after I drop my daughter off at school. I might be able to run over there for a while after that. We'll see what else the weekend brings, hopefully I'll have a better idea of "no" or "maybe" by Friday night. If there's any snow accumulation in the forecast for Saturday, it will likely be a "no".

150" bucks aren't easy to come by out there either. Don't let the Midwest "hype" fool you; the big bucks are there, but they aren't as common as the current deer porn producers are leading everyone to believe!

Dan,
Just joking around in case you didn't know.
I will go out on a limb and say there aint but a hand full of bucks shot like those above shot in this state every year. Word of advise, until you get a handle on the deer around here, dont pass on to many!!!!!!

Those are some shooters My biggest issue moving up here from MD/PA wasn't not seeing huge bucks...it was the number of deer sighting & buck sightings. That right there alone will be something you'll notice right off the bat. We NEED a state wide AR, shorter season dates set for the smoke pole & rifle and new deer management program with people that know what their doing.

aint that the truth. AR and shorter seasons would make a big difference.
