I was kinda suprised to see that crow season opens aug, 15!
Guess I never paid any attention in the past, anyway who plans on going after some crows? I think I will to sharpen my shooting and to give me another reason to be in the woods.

I started crow hunting last year. I will go again this year and hopefully be able to use my pup to retrieve them.

I usually shoot them when I am out chuck hunting. That way, the old farmers are happy about keeping the crows out of their corn fields. I have heard that calling in crows is an exciting hunt, but I have never tried it.

Growing up we would do a lot of crow hunting. On my Dad farm we had a great fly way that they would hit every year. Deershed, PAhunterman and I would hide behind the barn and blast away. We would take the ones we got and stick them out in the field as decoys. Propped them up with a stick and headed back behind the barn for more ;D Had a place in MD with a great fly way as well. Three of us went one day and I personally ended up going through 7 boxes of shells and we ended up with something like 12 to 15 crows a piece for that day all from the same field. Deershed, Do you remember the guys opening fire on that buck with their guns while we were bow hunting? It was in the same field the buck crossed before they thought of building all those stores in there.
After I moved here to NH I bought about 6 or 8 decoys and used my Lohman recorder to call a few in. Killed a few but not nearly as many as I did in PA and MD. I've been seeing a lot of crows up the road on a farm that also has 8 or 9 resident turkey buzzards. Anyone know if there's a season on those "buzzards" ;D

I use the foxpro and a hand call. I only had 3 decoys last year, but want a dozen this year. I was a horrible shot last season and probably killed only 1 crow for every 6 shots. Had trouble getting them to come down far enough for a good shot. Might have to try the turkey choke, I've been hitting flying pigeons out at 60+ yards with that. I need to start shooting some skeet for goose, crow, and duck season. My dog is going to get quite a work out this year!

Hey guys, you wanna add some excitement to your crow hunts, try an owl decoy over a freshly killed crow! They go nuts when they see that owl!

Heard about the owl decoy but never bought one. While I was cleaning out my shop room, I came across 4 crow decoy I've had for awhile. Might have to dust them off buy a owl decoy and give it a try with "Big Ben" ;D
