You lucky dog Don't know of any spots but if you need any help scouting some weekend, I'd be happy to lend a hand. I'll also ask around Morse Sporting Goods for some helpful information. Plus I've got a moose call if you need to borrow one

Well I guess I will have to shoot the muzzle loader more this summer. Work up a different load, maybe a 300 gr. bonded shockwave bullet and a little bit more Tripple Seven. I guess I got my work cut out for this summer.

Thanks Ken, I made one yesterday and it sounds pretty good. Can't wait to try it on the real thing. I think I'm going to make a call out of birch bark also to play with.

I'm Exxxxcited, already getting stuff together and checking maps. Already had a phone message from Pittsburg, with a guy wanting to rent a camp in A-2. They must grab the lottery list and start calling everone. I have a good friend who has a camp also in Pittsburg. So I'll be talking with him soon. Going up to the woodlot tomorrow to get a nice piece of birch bark to make a call and also shoot my Encore with the 300 gr. Shockwaves. These should do the trick on a Moose.

Talked to my friend he said I can use his camp. His camp is about 2 miles from the First Conn Lake just off RTE 3. I'm going to go up there with him pretty soon to check it out and look around. He's been going up there for at least 25 years, so he will know quite a few of the roads.

Congrats on getting picked. I have been three times and it was a good time. I had zone E1 all three times, so I can't help you with spots but I will say this. When scouting look for some new clear cuts. Don't worry about seeing them during the summer months just locate as many cuts as you can. Walk as many as you can. Some cuts lead to bigger cuts that are more remote. You can call these critters by cupping your hands together and pinching your nostril closed with your index fingers. In a low tone below out errrrrrrrr er er and repeat. Once you make the can call you will see that you will be able to simulate the call as I described. The nice thing about the can and the birch bark funnel is you will be able to get a much louder call. Last fall I was able to call a bull within 30 yards. Keep in mind that you will be hitting the tail end of the rut so calling will not be as effective as it would be in Late September early October but will still work.
Good Luck!

From a northern NH born and raised hunter and Hunting guide you should have no problem filling your tag. There is a spot on RT 3 that they call moose alley you can drive out there and see moose pretty much every morning and night. But they wont be there come hunting season. I would find some good dirt roads with new and old cuttings. This is were I would be looking they hang out in there browsing on the new growth and the stuff just cut down. Don't place all your eggs in one spot alot of people have picked up there and there will be alot of hunting pressure for sure. Plus small game season is in full swing and deer with bow has begun. You can stop in to the local stores and start talking to the old time residents up there they will help you out. If you need any help just let me know.
