Glad you stopped in glenbow In case I missed you up top, WELCOME to the board! I shot a Super Diablo a few years back but had a hard trying to shot both recurve and compound. I wish I never got rid of it One of these days I'd like to give it another try. I miss hunting with traditional gear, it was a lot better and less of a headache than hunting with all the bells and whistles that my bow has on it now plus the gear I carry with it.

Another stick shooter here. HH style longbows are my personal favorites but I also have (and occasionaly shoot) a Martin Sabre recurve and a R-D longbow. Love the simplicity.

I shoot a longbow. I prefer the high performance or hybrids, as they are sometimes called. I have one that I will never get rid of, a Spartacus, and one that I use for trades or sale should any come up that interest me. Right now it's a Griffin, which is one of the hardest hitting, stable, "short" longbows that I have ever shot. Maybe I have two now that I will never get rid of. I guess I'll have to buy the next one. Steve

I build all my own bows longbows ,recurves T/D and about anything else that bends and has a string. I prefer a T/D recurve as I do alot of flying with bows and they are much easier to pack.

I had never shot a traditional bow until last year, all my shooting for the last fifteen years has been with a compound. But last spring I had the chance to borrow a recurve from one of our GSB members and what a blast! Addictive as hell. Couldn't hit the broad side of a barn for a long time, but who cares! It it such a different world than compound shooting. Now I've become a archery historian, reading everything I can get my hands on about the bow throughout history. My ultimate goal is to gain the confidence in my shooting ability that will let me take a deer with it. I'm guessing thousands of arrows will have to be shot before then, but that's fine with me!

Perry, just keep at it set your target close 10 yds and just work on form and release. It is just so much fun that practice is a treat. Most of my hunting shots are well under 20 yds. The buck I shot in Kansas this fall was 5 yds. Shot a turkey on the same trip, they were feeding along a barbed wire fence line grown up with4' weeds, I got up on the fence row and ambushed em at about 4'. You don't need to shoot long distance.Just limit yourself to your effective range. It'll come together. Good luck Glen

I spend a lot of time down in the basement just shooting the bag, working on anchor and release points. At ten yards I can shoot a group that makes me think I'm Howard Hill. The very next group...I'm lucky if I can keep 'em all on the bag! And the funny thing is...knowing the yardage doesn't seem to help one bit. It's frustrating, but I'm hooked! I'll never give up the compound, that whole speed addiction thing, but this is too much fun to put down.

I shoot a Schafer Silvertip, but still have not got good enough to hunt with it. There are some days I shoot well and some days i can't hit the broad side of a barn from the inside. I have a Great Northern Fireball for sale if anyone wants a good hybred. PM me if you know anyone interested. The bow is in excellent shape.
