with all the rounds out there to choose from I am looking for the best hunting round. I have seen hollow points and poly-tipped In all kinds of bullet weights. I was just looking for any input.

The best round is the one that hits the target!! ;D
You are right, there is a lot to choose from. The decision here is what distances you expect to shoot and performance you want from the bullet. I like to shoot heavier bullets and like the molly coated ballistic tip. However, most gun shops do not carry these on the shelves. I have to place an order for them.
If you plan on shooting out to 100 or 200 yd. you should have no problem with a good hollow point or similar varmint ammo in 55 or 62 gr range. Your best bet is to buy a box of everything that catches your eye, and see how it shoots for you.
Don't forget that you are shooting a 16 in. barrel and you will not get performance like the factory will tell you. You are not completely burning all of the powder available and will loose downrange velocity and energy fairly quickly.

I knew you would have a suggestion, B4
I will try whatever ammo that I can get my paws on, I still need to resight the Aimpoint, last time I tried the battery went dead. Now with the new battery, the reddot is visable in broad day light. I think the AR will be my "thick stuff" rifle so I will sight it for 50-75 yards.

I would find some good 55 gr varmint rounds that are not too expensive and use the brand that your rifle likes. This way you can have ammo that readily available and not break the bank. You can knock down some dogs and use the same stuff to blast on the range.
Don't underestimate that little black rifle. It has plenty of thump in it to reach well past 600 meters on yotes.
If you want 25 m scaled 300m zero targets, I can send you them.

ya B4, I would love some. And at what range do those aimpoints get sighted for? what would be a good distance to sight it where it would be good for close up and some ranging out shot? If there is such a thing.... again, sorry for the tons of questions, this is a whole new round for me..

If you zero it in at 25 m it should be good out to 300 m. You will have to hit the range and shoot at intermediate ranges to learn the hold under references you will need to use. Or you can zero for what you expect to be common ranges and figure out the hold overs for anything further out.
I am still trying to find those zero targets on digits. I will send it when I find it.
