is anyone familiar with pillar bedding? I am looking at a new rifle (savage-lefthanded) and was noticeing that the synthetic stocks were dual pillar bedded but the wooden stocks weren't.Is there a big difference in accuracy? Thanks Bill

in pillar bedding, the barrel, receiver and trigger assembly are suspended and do not come in contact with the stock at all. This creates true, unobstructed harmonics when the rifle fires. It was designed for long range rifles and seems to be becoming the standard for rifle manufactures that talk about accuracy.
Sounds like the wooden stock models are base models and are probably less of a price tag. There is a difference in accuracy, but unless you are shooting past 500 yds you would be fine with out pillar bedding.
