I actually have several. I like the Remington 700 BDL 30-06 and .270. I also have and use a Marlin 336 .35 cal. The 30-06 i use a 180 gr bullet. The .270 a 150 gr bullet and the .35 a 200 gr. bullet. What i use depends on the terrain and how thick the brush might be.

My Remington 700 Mountain rifle in the REM280 has to be my favorite. I also use a Marlin 30-30 with a peep sight when ever I'm in thick brush or mooching around for my Dad. I think my next deer rifle will be a Remington 7400 carbine 30-06

Browning204 do you like the composite stocks? I just can't get used to them. I like the look the wood stocks give a weapon.

I have a remington mountain rifle in a .308 caliber and love it. I have the composite stock and like it better than wood when hunting, but like the looks of wood better.

WHITETAIL: Ya I like the composite stock, it's my only rifle with it and it's good. I think it looks good with the stainless barrel.. as far as weight it problably lightens it up a bit. I like the wood also but when I got the .270 it was there calling my name and I wanted a .270 so I grabbed it....

For NH, I love the Winchester 94 30-30. Its light, compact and easy to bring into action when you need it. You can get a second shot off very quicky (although its usually to no avail!!) with out taking your eye off the target.

I don't know about a favorite, I keep trying new calibers because it's fun. My Rem 700 in 25-06 has a lot of fond memories. I've got a Savage 110 in 30-06 from the first year they made that model that has always been fun. This year I used Frankenstein. It's got a mil. Mauser '98 reciever, someone screwed on a .308 barrel and then married the whole thing to an old springfield military stock. So damn ugly it's cute. I had the head space checked before I shot it, because whoever put this thing together had a truly warped sense of humor. On the plus side, it has good manners and shoots a great group. It's just SO damn ugly.
