It seems that 3 PM members were trying to get a motel room in Globe. There was only one room left and the desk clerk told them it was 30 dollars. The three agreed to split the cost of the room and share it. They all pitched in $10 to make the $30 fee. After they left the office and were settled into their room, the desk clerk realized that the room fee was only $25 and gave the bell man 5 one dollar bills to refund to the 3 men. On his way to the room, the bell man thought to himself, "how am I going to divide 5 dollars between 3 people." So, he kept 2 dollars for himself and gave each of the men 1 dollar making their fee for the room 9 dollars each. Now here is the quandry. The original room was $30, $10 each. The bell man refunded $1 each making it $9 each or $27 total. The bell man kept $2 for himself making the total $29. What happened to the remaining $1.00?

Because the bell men kept two dollars, that brings the real cost of the room to $27 not $25. ($25 +$2=27) Each of the men originaly paid $10 but was refuned $1 by the bellmen making their total $27.
That means all the money is accounted for, $25 to the hotel for the room, $3 dollars to the guest, and $2 to the bellmen, 25+3=28 (not $27). 28+2=30.
I would assume that the wording is supposed to trick you but the numbers dont lie
;D
And you guys though us Rangers were nothing but bullet stoppers ;D ;D

I do not have the exact answer, but I think the answer is.... When they went through there math steps they said "The bell man refunded $1 each making it $9 each or $27 total. The bell man kept $2 for himself making the total $29." If you do $9 times 3 you are factoring in the the bellman's $2 and leaving out the refunded money. They added the bellmans money in the equasion twice and never added in the refund.
Ps- I'm now a jake!
