Funny thing, those 'shroome's. I found some of those up in Aroostook county a couple of years ago, the way they were growing I thought I found a patch of Fairy ring mushrooms. So, I picked a couple, put them in a baggie and took them back to my folks house and stuck them in the freezer until I could be sure what they were. Only problem was I forgot to tell Mom they were in there. I had to call them up a week later and tell her NOT to eat the pretty white mushrooms in the freezer. She wasn't very happy with me. Be damn carefull with 'shroome's, it would be a painfull way to go.

That's good information to remember ;D I only pick one kind of shroom........Morels! Every turkey season in WV and PA after a hunt we'll go looking. Half the time I run across them just as I'm starting to work a gobbler and I've got to make a pick what I want the most. Found these in VT while turkey hunting! Cut, wash and soak for a while and they're ready for some flour & corn meal. We deep fry them in butter and man are they mum mum good!!! ;D ;D

Nice pictures DD, glad to see you figured out that whole image input thing. Drag a few of them into the GSB page. Do you eat the Chanterelle's? I've been growing shitakes and oyster mushrooms in my basement for awhile but I haven't gotten the big blooms that I would like. Hey, Gobl, what kind of habitat are you finding morels in? I'm always looking for them, and NEVER finding any. Ever notice how easy it is to take a thread and go out on tour with it?

perry, We usually find under Poplar trees and around rotten dead falls. You drop in to a hollow that well shaded with lots of dead falls you'll find Morels Don't know why but just after a storm goes through you'll start to find them and an hour later they'll be gone! I've got some good books on Morels. I'll find them and get back with you on the name of them.

Thanks! I mark spots on my maps where I find mushrooms and would really like to put a morel site on there. I've heard that good reproducing morel sites are guarded better than fort knox by the guys who find them. Growing shitakes in the basement is nice, but 's just not the same as wandering through the woods and finding a patch of edible mushrooms. DD, if they were woods trolls wouldn't they be immune to deadly mushrooms? Maybe you should poison someone less...trollish, and see what happens.

Hey perry, I should have add that the ones I posted were the only Morels I've ever found outside of PA, WV and VA. Here's a cool web site on them with a message board. I tried to find a site that was open to anyone posting on their Morel findings like where, date, time, weather and how many. People from all over the country would post on the site! It was a pretty neat hearing as to when was the best time others Morels hunter were getting into them www.michiganmorels.com/

I should probably explain that last post. The "very cool" part was in reply to Gobl's mushroom site, not DD's peculiar habit of poisoning little indigenous woodland troll's and their families, although...upon further reflection, I would pay to see that. DD, bring some death caps to Watanic and slip some in his burger.
