I'm thinking about hunting with a pistol next year and am going out looking around this weekend. Anyone got any suggestions?

Ruger Super Redhawk .454 Casull ;D Can shot the 454 ammo for hunting or 45LC for at the range (cheaper and less painful) I've got a photo of mine somewhere in the pistol shooting board. I know Id never do this but I think it would funny to watch my buddies shooting the 45LC ammo at our camp and with out them knowing, slip in a 454 round ;D ;D They'd probably drop my gun or worse yet! hurt themselves There's a huge difference between the two rounds. My brother who's 6-1" 275+ shot it only once and didn't want to touch it again ;D It was before I put the soft grips on it so I know how he felt.

A friend of mine has one. It can be brutal.

i usually carry my smith and wesson sigma .40cal in the woods with me. 2 14rd mags ought to do the job on a 2 or 4 legged predator. ill post a picture of it sometime in the next few days.

It kicked a lot less than I remembered .44 mag. Though the last on I fired was a S&W M29.
