Just got back from cruise to Southeast Alaska and Kodiak. Spectacular country. Pink salmon were running and the streams were full of them. A few photos you might like to show to the kids. Finally got into bears in Anan, off the southern tip of Wrangle Island. About the only place both Coastal Browns and Blacks will feed together. Hundreds of bald eagles taking advantage of the situation, too. The guides had 12 ga. slugs in the shotguns; there were bears on the trail walking in. The browie was a pretty big boar but quite a ways away. The sow with two cubs had them in almost sheer rock to keep them away from the boars, I'd guess. She had some success in her little fishing hole, too. The boar with the salmon was about 10 yards below me. The biggest boar, in the last pic, was a good 400 lbs, maybe more. He had that side of the stream to himself until he was done, then three bears came down there to feed.
