Well the 2011 crow season got off to a slow start with howling winds this morning. Made it a little tricky, but still loads of fun. More to come hopefully

I use the Wildlife Technologies - MA21 electronic caller. Sometimes use decoys, sometimes don't. That MA21 really gets them wound up though. Great to see other kids getting out there. IMO it's more of a fun hunt for kids than squirrel. I regularly take other kids out for crows and they have a blast (pun)

Everyone I have ever taken has had a blast..very fun for younger folks or new hunters...I use a foxpro and a flextone e-callers...drives em crazy...I built my first caller with a file box, motorcycle battery, car cassette player, johnny stewart tapes, and 2 radio shack power horns..LOUD...and my buddy still uses it to haul em in up in VT.

I gotta try one of those calls. I have tried with a mouth call several times. They fly in across the field, sit in the tree tops and wont come any furter. I am doing something wrong for sure.

I am by no means an expert crow hunter, but one thing I have learned is camouflage, camouflage, camouflage.... They can spot a human form for 200 yds. I read an interesting article once that crows can actually identify and remember facial features of people !! When I see a crow come across the field, do a 180 and land in a tree, I am busted and move on to another location.

EC, when I started I used mouth calls and would get a few crows...when I went electronic...HUGE difference...had em coming in everywhere every time..I find having remote capability a huge advantage also..I also use my turkey hunting camo!

Another tip is when you set up always have the wind to your back so the crows are flying into it..all birds like to fly/land into the wind..and when they come in they will hover in the wind making for some easy stationary aerial shooting.
