I have been talking about it for a while and have finally started doing it. My boys and I are going to take the 10-22 that Kyle one and turn it into a high speed low drag woodchuck killing machine.
We went and shot it today so that they would be able to appreciate the difference. However, I must say that the newer 10-22 are a bit nicer than the one I had 15 years ago. Much better trigger, much better quality and pretty accurate out of the box. I was able to shoot a silver dollar sized group at 50 yards leaning against the truck and Iron sights. The boys were whacking clay birds left and right. I was the first time they have ever shot a firearm off hand and they did great.
Here is the before pic and a pic of the gun dissembled.
I am going to try and do the trigger job myself. I did one on the last one I owned and it turned out pretty nice so I will give it another try. I would like about a 3# trigger (If i botch it I can just by a power custom !!).

I am putting a Baush & Lomb 6x24 scope on it with a weaver base and weaver rings.
I am going to put a Boyds Tacticool stock on it. I am going to get a tan one and camo it my self. I am sure it will end up with a bi pod as well.

I am also going to make an adjustable cheek piece for it.

For a barrel I decided on a tactical solutions. It is not the most accurate but it is fairly reasonable in price and very light which will be a help to the boys. Went with a flat black fluted.
