What kind of laRue mount are you using on the gas block? Do you use a separate pressure switch or just the push button end cap? How is it working for you.?
Growing up hunting nights in Indiana the trusty D cell Mag light was state of the art. Your set up looks much more useable

Highwaystar, I think I will try some night hunting. I went out Thursday night and had some howl responses in the two places I tried. I then went back this morning setting up at first light. I played a sequence as outlined in the other thread, or as close as I could assemble and didn't have any luck.
On my second stand it was a repeat performance of the first. No responses nothing seen. During college we used to night hunt in Indiana with a boom box and a rabbit distress cassette and had very good luck with shotguns in close. I just have not gone through the process of getting a permit.

We did the same thing this morning. Good night locating great group of coyotes and I new the lay of the land for a setup in the morning, was there at day break. Made a good stand and no dogs. And this was the 1st time Jeff hunted with us and we thought we would score. But, oh well thats hunting.
Permits are work. Night hunting is great and worth the trouble.

just got in from two stands on my property. On the second I had howls and yips coming from across a creek that runs through the bottom of a small valley on the land. It sounded like there were several on the opposite ridge. They would respond but wouldn't move in. The wind was blowing from them directly toward me so I believe there is no way they knew i was there. I quit about 45 minutes ago when it was to dark. As a last ditch I tried a few minutes of rabbit distress, a challenge howl and then silence hoping that curiosity would get the better of them.
I just went out and tried a couple howls on my call and they are still there and will answer. I definitely need to get my night hunting permit. I think I will also pattern my shotgun tomorrow afternoon.

Highwaystar,
Quick question, do I need a permit to night hunt my own land?
I think my problem is that they are denning on the other side of a ridge, road and houses and they are only using my property to travel through or hunt through. I can hear them yipping and howling from my back porch and maybe a nighttime stand would be just the ticket to get them to come in.
