Well the order I’d be looking to purchase a long box would be the following guys. Marlin Watkins, Jerry White of Dad’s Custom Box Calls and Kelly Rose of Mountain Man Calls. Can’t really tell you why other than their reputation as being a few best long box call makers around. I'm looking at Dad's Poplar & Cedar long box Marlin is a tough guy to get a hold of as well as Kelly anymore. I use to have their information but can't find it Well I'm sure I know where I can get Marlins number but I know he doesn't have any thing ready for spring. Marlin Watkins calls will be like Neil Cost calls someday! Well maybe not nearly as expensive as a Neil Cost but that will be in high demand by collectors

Yes, those are AWESOME calls!
What tools do you use for your inlays?

Thanks for the welcome! I use a router or tablesaw to make the grooves for the inlays, some inlays I cut in by hand with a chisel and exacto knife, such as a diamond shaped inlay on a striker. The inlays are glued in and then sawn or sanded flush with the surface. This type of inlay work is done using the tablesaw and jigs.

Welcome again to the forum blackfalcon and thanks for the PM Those are some beautiful looking calls we've got there Do you have a web site to see more of your work? Now have you made or tried a mahogany box and cedar paddle? If so please post up your photos or thoughts on the sound those two wood combinations make. I'd be very interested in packing one in my vest this spring

If I can help out in any way, just let me know. Feel free to call me and I'd be happy to run some calls for you, or send sound files. I got some very positive feedback from Nashville and Perry this year, and also took second place at Perry. Considering I only sent one long box to each, I think the calls spoke for themselves. My telephone number is listed on my website, click on the banner and it will take you there if interested.
