I try and be a good sportsman...I dont litter, trespass or poach...safety is always my first concern with a firearm...for myself and others...and showing courtesy to other people I meet in the field...by and large most people I meet out hunting and fishing are the same...but theres always a few knuckleheads out there I run into...thankfully not too many....today I had a decision I made based on trying to be a good sportsman...finally after 3 days of snow, rain and strong winds...a nice calm sunny day...seeing crow season is almost over...1 day left now...I went out looking for some crows for one last hurrah...well I check one of my best spots....BIG flock all over the field in the manure piles and on the ground...mixed in with a bunch of feral pigeons...I thought oh yeah Im gunna knock a few of them out today...so I am scoping the field and looking in the tree line for perched crows and spot something odd so I crank up the spotting scope and see a man and women in one of those double deer tree stands...deer season is on here still...now I had to think this over...they were plenty far enough for me to shoot...especially with lo-brass 7 1/2 shot...but then I thought about it and said loud caller, screaming crows.....multiple (hopefully) shotgun blasts...and they were here first...I wouldnt have felt right hitting the spot knowing they were there...so I took a few pictures and moved on...tempting as it was cuz there was a lot of crows very close...but in the end..I know I did the right thing...1 more day...maybe theyll be there tomorrow !
