...and I thought my 12g was going to be too much...it is on the heavy side, but such is life when you buy a gun for turkey hunting and want to use it for everything else.
I saw a couple grouse while out fishing the other morning and think I may take a crack at it sometime in the coming weeks. Is blaze orange required for grouse is in pheasant hunting?

Once you eat a ruffed grouse, it will become your favorite bird. By far the best tasting bird I have ever eaten. Only if you've never eaten dove breast wrapped with beacon ;D Can you say........Deeelishusss ;D ;D I sure wish they would open a season here in NH for them. Along with all the grouse I saw, there was 10X as many of dove in the Walpole / Westmoreland area. That's some beautiful farm country

Is there any particular reason that there isn't a dove season? I think New England and NY are the only states that don't have one. I see about 20 of them every morning when I walk my dogs for 5 minutes, it's not like there is a huge shortage.

Mourning doves are not the dove that is the bird of peace, Mourning doves are actually related to pigeons, but they are classified as a song bird in NH so they get a free resting zone on their migration south, then get hammered as they move further south.
