I grew up hunting rabbits in Maryland and in Pennsylvania. Over the past 15 years I've drifted away from hunting them. On my road to my house I keep seeing this one cottontail and he's sparking my interest in hunting them again. Can anyone tell me where in New Hampshire the rabbit hunting is still alive? without giving up their honey hole? Doesn't matter if it cottontail or snowshoe hare! I'd love to get back into hunting them ;D I've got a craving for rabbit pot-pie but no rabbits to put in it

I'd even be willing to buy a non-resident licence to hunt them as long as it's not a 4 hour drive (both ways) to hunt two rabbits ;D Most states have a small game licence that doesn't cost an arm and a leg to buy.

I believe cotton tail hunting in some parts of the state is closed, something about two different types of cottontail and they are very hard to tell apart, one is underpopulated so they closed both.
Snowshoes are fun, and bigger!, but you need to head north. Easy pickings when no snow, tough to see with snow!

The eastern cottontail is about to be listed as endangered and parts of the southern area of the state are closed to all cottontail hunting. One of the best ways to find good populations of snowshoes is to take a look at the Small Game Harvest Summary. That will give you a start as to where the numbers are taken. Also look at the seasons on the Fish and Game page. You will see certain WMU's have different limits and those with the higher limits are obviously the best places to head. The best way to find snowshoes though is to head out after a snow fall. You will find their tracks Al@THO THO Game Calls www.thogamecalls.com
