Yesterday afternoon, Charlie gave me a surprise present that I'll cherish for a long long time while dropping off some things to him and picking up some wood from his shop.
So while in his home chatting about hunting and showing me where he hopes to be moving to, I noticed and commented him how I liked the wing bone call sitting on his the TV stand. He told it was from the gobbler that he hunted several weekends and thumped with two left in the season this year. Now the one thing I didn't notice when he posted the photos of the wing bone calls he made was how light or blond the spurs was. I've seen spurs with different colors patterns before but this blond looking color was a first for me. It really was a sweet looking and the way he made the spur into the wing bone call was even sweeter.
That's when he left the room and returned with me a small box wrapped in Hawkeye print with Tooky River gang on the front. When I got home and opened it with my son Jake and little did I know, it was the other wing bone call w/the spur call from his gobbler.
He took the other wing set and made it up for me along with a special note on the side and a photo from the day the gobbler met his maker. It an incredible call with a lot of special meaning to it. I have plans of making a sweet shadow box display for it and it will hang in my office next to my call bench for people to see and for me to be reminded of the friendship we've formed.
Thanks Charlie
I'll post up photos soon
