but that will change. When it comes to wing shots, I'm lousy at it! I wanted to put a trail cam out today over some spoiled chicken parts with the hope of getting a good coyote picture. I decided to take along the old Ithaca 12 and my electronic caller and set up for a quick crow hunt after I placed the trailcam. There's still a lot of snow in the woods and there doesn't seem to be too many crows back up here around Littleton (although I heard a flock of geese flying over and a redwing blackbird in the woods, a sure sign of spring up here) so I snowshoed to a clearing near the Connecticut River where I put out the caller. I let 'er rip for a few minutes and then turned it down so I could here if anything was coming in. Nothing...not a sound. I started going thru my play list and when I hit the dying crow call by Johnny Stewart, 4 came across the clearing fast and hard! I swung on the lead crow and fired and he folded and slammed into a dead pine tree. The others were still in a frenzy but they got altitude in a hurry and circled a few times high up and then took off. All the racket they made didn't attract any other crows so I packed up and headed out. Tomorrow's another day and hopefully more crows will be back! I took a picture of this single because the way I shoot, it will probably be a while and a couple of boxes of shells before I down another one! Good luck to you all heading out this weekend! Leave a couple for me!
