Anyone want to take us out squirrel or bunny hunting? My son and I want to try it but we haven't found any spots with either. Seem there is a big gray squirrel shortage where we are

Seem there is a big gray squirrel shortage where we are I hear what you're saying about a lack of Grays this year. It's been pretty slow going since the opener Sept. 1st. However, I managed to get out for three hours yesterday and was able to bag the three below. Two others busted me as I tried stalking up on 'em. Lot's of leaves still up yet, so hopefully, things will continue to improve as the overhead opens up more. Where are you located? Perhaps I can point you a direction that might produce something for you. Sorry about the pic being so blurry. I was using a pretty slow shutter speed trying to overcome fading light. Obviously, I should have placed the camera on something solid instead of just holding it.

While out scouting a new hunting area late Monday afternoon, I reserved a little time for some "sneak & peek" along a trail I was on. I caught this girlie unawares as she was doing her squirrel foraging thing. She and a cousin of hers will be joining me for a stew supper some time next week. As I said previously, things are starting to pick up rather nicely now - squirrel hunting-wise, I mean.

What caliber is that one-shot?

What caliber is that one-shot? Actually, the gun is a 20 ga, and it's one of my favorite guns. It is absolutely the simplest, lightest, quickest, no nonsense and inexpensive shotgun one can carry. Like with most things we men get involved with, BIGGER is often perceived as better. That truly and simply is just not always the case. I can't count the times I have heard or witnessed multiple, unfocused shots being fired with little or nothing being hit by all the lead flying about. Years ago when training my then little boys how to hunt, I armed them with single shot rifles and shotguns. I did that reasoning that they would have NO chance whatsoever of an accidental discharge in the excitement after a kill. As it turned out, I personally found the single shot to be to my liking. A single shot simply did the job required. You know, one shot - one kill. I have two muzzleloaders that I hunt all season with, a .54 cal flintlock and a .50 cal inline. Again, one shot - one kill. I also have a single shot 30.06. Again, one shot....oh, you get the the picture, yes? Anyway, as to your question; the shotgun shown is a New England Firearms 20ga, break action, single shot shotgun. It's a great squirrel getter! msj
