So I'm finally getting out for the first time this weekend to throw the fly line around a bit, now I'm just trying to decide between trout or stripers...I've never had very good luck with the stripers on a fly line, so I may just head out for some trout.

Tisk Tisk...I'm actually surprised I'm getting out at all...with the new baby, everyday is a struggle to get up...it's not the lack of sleep, but rather the lack of "quality" sleep. For some reason I just feel wiped out all the time. I'm sure it only gets worse...
Wait until bow season this fall and trying to get up before dawn...it'll be interesting for sure.

I ended up going for trout at a river with lots of pressure from fly fishermen...I had two hookups but both broke off. Dry fly fishing has got to be one of the most frustrating things in the world when you can see the fish come within a half inch of the fly and turn back...It was great to get out though.
On the flip side, the lack of sleep from the baby kicked my butt more than the fish did...by about 12:00 I could barely stand up, I felt like I got hit my an 18-wheeler. I don't think I'm going to be heading out every weekend for fishing trips. I'm going to have to figure something out for deer season, or else my ass is going to be sleeping while out in the woods.

Is that a technique you developed all on your own? The 3 S approach sit, sleep, shoot. I have a feeling I shouldn't take that approach, although it may work out for me...
