does anybody have a certain plan or product to use to fight them off?....with all the diseases going around now they not only are a nuisance while hunting but can have serious health repercussions, lyme disease being one of them. I just saw on tv that cases of lyme disease in NH are HIGH and there are going to be lots of ticks. I hate them and worry about them when hunting. I plan on getting some repel spray and giving my hunting boot and clothes a good spray, this supposedly kills ticks if they contact it, not just stops them. all i own is white socks, so im buying some camo/dark green socks so i can tuck my pant legs in to tick proof more. I saw a bug bracelet online that is plastic and supposedly works well on flying insects. I might buy one of the thermacell rigs which work, kinda xpensive and a pain BUT sitting and waiting and fighting off mosquitoes sucksssssss...lastly i try and avoid brushy, known tick areas. any info on what you other guys do would be great!

p.s. my buddy says he tucks in his socks and then gives the top a roundabout with camo duct tape, keeps the ticks from going up a pant leg.

Something with Permethrin (usually 5% or something like that) sprayed on clothing, not skin, is the best for ticks. Therma-cell is supposed to work well also for skeeters ( I keep forgetting to bring mine though)

They're going to be nasty this year. We still have snow on the ground up here (went snowmobiliing on Wednesday the 15th), and my wife cat already picked up a couple ticks this week.

Yeah I did a bunch of research and everyone says a combination of permethrin on your clothes and deet on your skin stops em DEAD.....so thats what Im going with. Lordy last year I sat in a spot, 15 minutes, looked down and saw a tick on my leg, checked they were all over my pant cuffs!...I gth out of there, had em in my cuffs, all over my shirt.....found em in my car for a week. Im gunna dose my hunting gear good. I think the news said 600+ cases of lyme disease in NH last year.

I've already picked up a bunch while out scouting...I would tend to lean towards being an extremely nasty year for ticks as well.

Nasty, spray tat permitherin on your clothes the night before. Cover every square inch. Pay special attention to the cuffs of the pants and shirt. Also, spray the collar and waist thoroughly. I like to spray the inside of my boots and socks I will be wearing. Allow the clothes to dry for at least 8 hours. This should last a couple weeks and through a couple washes. I will also spray the inside of a rubbermaid tote and store my clothes in it after each hunt.
