Any idea why the 100 gr. federal shells are sticking on the .243 handi rifle after the shot when you go to eject. I purchased a used .243 at Kittery... it was not ejecting the shells so I took it back and they promptly gave me a refund. For $30 more I then purchased a brand new one (same model/caliber). Last year my 8 yr old fired it a doz. times and had not problems with the shells sticking in the chamber. Cleaned it after shooting.... After the second shot this year, the spent shell is sticking and not ejecting automatically. Took it to the dealer and he said this happens with those guns. He just sent it back to NEF to look at (fix) I hope. My question is "are these guns known for this problem?" Is there a round/grain for the .243 that shoots better out of this gun. I know it is a relatively inexpensive gun, but I like the size and single shot action for my 9 yr old. Thanks

I don't have much experience with these rifles but this sounds funny to me. Since the barrel is probably not shrinking, I would say that cases are swelling. There could be many things that would cause this problem. Most of which are not safe scenarios. I would suggest calling the factory. Get the info from their side. If you are not happy with that, take it to a good rifle smith and see what he thinks.
I would not let a child fire this rifle unless the cause was explained thoroughly and satisfied all doubts.
Let us know how it turns out

I picked up a used NEF 20ga about 4 months ago and it didnt spit out the shells either. Tried many things and nothing worked, so I gave it to rileys. lol.

Thank you for the input. The dealer I purchased the gun from looked at it said it certainly was not right. He took it from me and is sending it back to the manufacturer for inspection (and hopefully a quick fix). The one I purchased used at Kittery did the same thing so I returned that one and figured with a brand new model I should be all set. Sounds like there is a reoccuring problem with these guns/actions. I will let you know what happens when I get it back and what they have to say. It is my first NEF purchase, and depending how this goes, may be my last. For now, I will give them the benefit of the doubt and won't pass judgement until I see how it is handled and I am treated.
